What's New

- Added a new Sketch Bones tool.
Shift key can be used to constrain bones horizontally or vertically.
Make sure bones are a fixed length, even if the mouse speeds up or slows down.
When animating, select the bones that you just repositioned - that way, the selected keyframes in the timeline are meaningful.
When scaling is enabled, indicate the "natural" length of a bone chain when sketching, so the user knows how to shape it back to it's initial length.

- Added View menu items: Zoom To Layer and Zoom To Selection. The existing Shift-Home shortcut for Zoom To Layer and Option-Home shortcut for Zoom To Selection will continue to work independent of these menu items. The menu items themselves have no default keyboard shortcuts assigned. Users may assign shortcuts if desired via the Keyboard Shortcuts Editor.

- Improved the Freeze Pose command to be smarter about target bones, dynamic bones, controlled bones and others.

- Added "Show Rule Of Thirds" item to the View menu. This will toggle a change in the display to show the output area split into thirds.

- Dragging Switch layers/frames around was confusing. Now, when moving Switch keys:
Dragging the left side, moves the left side.
Dragging the right side, shifts the right side, pushing all keys to the right.
Dragging the center, moves the key as a whole, and can move it to swap places with its neighbors.
Hold Command to move the right side, hold Shift to move the left side (useful for short keys).
Hold Option to revert to the old behavior of simply moving keyframes around.

- Added an option to clip layer shadows to the contents of the enclosing group.

- Re-arranged the Select Bone tool controls. The bone constraints popup is very important, but covers up the middle of the screen. It has been shifted it to the left so you can see the canvas better while it's active.

- Added new curve simplification.

- Improved the behavior of scaling keyframes with relative cycles.

- Scaling keyframes now scales hold durations as well.

- When you hold down the spacebar, the cursor changes to a hand to indicate that panning mode has been activated.

- Added new keyboard shortcuts for the Layers palette.
When a switch layer is selected you can Activate Previous Switch Layer Child with Option-D.
You can Activate Next Switch Layer Child with Option-C.
Animators can reassign these shortcuts as desired to their content.

- In the Layers palette you can now Option-click the child of a switch layer to activate it.

- There is now an option to show the active switch layer, even if a different layer is selected.

- Freehand and Delete Edge tool improvements: smarter trimming and merging of curves after trimming a dangling curve end.

- Added a pixelation option for individual layers.

- Added a noise option for individual layers.

- Added an antialiasing option for individual vector layers.

- There is a new Preference setting under Document preferences: "Save and restore viewport settings in document." Documents are now saved with viewport state information. When this setting is enabled if a saved document contains this information the viewport settings will be restored when it is reopened.

- New Blob brush behavior: If you have the blob brush tool active, and you change the fill color, line color, line width, or brush settings, the currently selected shape will get deselected.

- Improved de-fringing for a particular masking setup.

- When reparenting a bone, angle keyframes are adjusted to compensate.

- Render progress now displayed in the dock icon.

- Prevent exporter from napping while performing a render.

- Bug fixes
